In a match defined by late drama and survival instincts, West Ham United snatched a vital 2-1 victory over Everton to keep their noses just above the relegation water.
Before kick-off, both sides were desperate to find defensive stability, with West Ham aiming to turn their home ground into a fortress and Everton hoping to snap a poor run of away clean sheets.
The Hammers knew that with rivals Tottenham also in action, every point was a precious commodity in their battle to avoid the drop, while the Toffees sought to leverage their competitive away ranking to maintain a comfortable mid-table position.
The deadlock was finally broken in the 51st minute when a corner from the right found Tomas Soucek at the near post, where he directed a powerful header into the top right corner (1-0).
Everton, known for scoring about a third of their goals after the 75th minute, lived up to their reputation as the clock wound down. In the 88th minute, Mykolenko delivered a cross from the left that Mavropanos headed back across goal, allowing Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to react quickest and slot the ball past the keeper (1-1).
Just as a draw seemed likely, the Hammers produced a 90th-minute miracle; Malick Diouf sent a deep cross to the far post for Jarrod Bowen to head back into the danger zone, where Callum Wilson was waiting to turn the ball home from close range (2-1).
West Ham United will be breathing a massive sigh of relief after securing a sixth consecutive match undefeated at home, a result that keeps them two points clear of the relegation zone.
This victory extends their unbeaten run to three matches, and while they failed to keep a clean sheet for the 15th time in 17 home games, their resilience in the final moments proved to be the difference-maker.
Currently sitting 17th, the Hammers now prepare for a trip to Brentford, knowing that their ability to find goals late in the game has given them a fighting chance for survival.
For Everton, this result marks a frustrating second consecutive defeat and a third straight game without a win, leaving them in 11th place.
Despite the late equaliser from Dewsbury-Hall, their defensive frailties away from home were exposed again, marking the sixth consecutive away match without a clean sheet and the fourth in a row where they conceded twice on the road.
With a daunting fixture against Manchester City looming, the Toffees must address a backline that has now conceded two in each of their last three league outings if they are to stop their slide down the table.
2nd consecutive home win for West Ham Utd. 2nd consecutive defeat for Everton. 3rd consecutive home game where West Ham Utd scored. 3rd consecutive game where Everton conceded. 6th consecutive away game where Everton conceded. 4th consecutive game where Everton scored. 2nd consecutive away game where Everton scored.
To calculate the above duration values based on a total of 90 minutes, goals scored on the 45th minute and during added time of the first half are considered scored on the 45th minute, and goals scored on the 90th minute and during added time of the second half are considered scored on the 90th minute.

Domination Index calculation method
⌄
The Domination Index calculation is based on the average of the following percentages:
- Possession percentage - Percentage of match corners awarded to each team - Percentage of time each team has been in the lead
The calculation used is: AVERAGE OF (% Possession x 4, % Corners and % Lead duration x 2)
'Domination' in football can be perceived in different ways. The goal of the Domination Index, as calculated here, is not about trying to determine things like 'who should have won' or which team has been simply attacking the most.
Sometimes a team has easily scored once or twice in the beginning of the game and then opts for a more reactive stance, with a focus on hindering the opponent's game. At the end of the match, the opponent might have had more possession, and even more shots, but that does not necessarily mean they have dominated the other team.
Considering possession as only one of the factors, which also include corners (clearly indicating a form of pressure on the opponent's defence), and how much of the 90-minute match duration each team has been leading, allows to also account for when teams have simply been busy controling the game, without needing to attack a lot.

The 'League average' indicator refers to the average value for all teams in the league since the beginning of the season.
Note: in the table above, to allow for averaging duration values based on a total of 90 minutes per game, goals scored on the 45th minute and during added time of the first half are all considered to be scored on the 45th minute, and goals scored on the 90th minute and during added time of the second half are also considered scored on the 90th minute.
In this example, West Ham United have been in the lead for an average duration of 18.7 minutes per match (based on a 90-minute match duration), which is lower than the average duration of 26.6 minutes per match during which their opponents were in the lead in those matches.
Non-crucial goals scored: goals scored that increased an existing lead, or decreased the opponent's existing lead.
Non-crucial goals conceded: goals conceded that decreased an existing lead, or increased the opponent's existing lead.
Note regarding the Goals giving the lead and the goals giving lead to opponent values: both the team and the opponent team might take the lead more than once during a single match,
so the total number of goals giving the lead to a team might be higher than the number of matches played by the team.
Lead-defending ability West Ham United have taken the lead 22 times and have conceded an equalizer on 12 instances, translating into a lead-defending rate of 45% (for an opponents' equalizing rate of 55%).
Equalizing ability Of the 25 times that West Ham Utd's opponents have taken the lead, West Ham Utd have managed to score an equalizer on 6 instances, translating into an equalizing rate of 24%.
In this example, West Ham Utd have been in the lead for an average duration of 21.3 minutes per match played at home (based on a 90-minute match duration), which is longer than the average duration of 15.2 minutes per match during which their opponents were in the lead in those matches.
Lead-defending ability (at home) In home matches, West Ham Utd have taken the lead 14 times and have conceded an equalizer on 8 occasions, translating into a home lead-defending rate of 43% (for an opponents' equalizing rate of 57%).
Equalizing ability (at home) Of the 13 times that West Ham Utd's opponents have taken the lead when West Ham Utd were playing at home, West Ham Utd have managed to score an equalizer on 4 occasions, translating into a home equalizing rate of 31%.
In this example, West Ham Utd have been in the lead for an average duration of 16.2 minutes per match played away (based on a 90-minute match duration), which is lower than the average duration of 37.9 minutes per match during which their opponents were in the lead in those matches.
Lead-defending ability (away) In away matches, West Ham Utd have taken the lead 8 times and have conceded an equalizer on 4 occasions, translating into an away lead-defending rate of 50% (for an opponents' equalizing rate of 50%).
Equalizing ability (away) Of the 12 times that West Ham Utd's opponents have taken the lead when West Ham Utd were playing away, West Ham Utd have managed to score an equalizer on 2 occasions, translating into an away equalizing rate of 17%.
West Ham Utd stats rank the team in 18th position in the Premier League table with 39 points, 2 points behind Tottenham and 17 points above Burnley.

In this example, Everton have been in the lead for an average duration of 23.1 minutes per match (based on a 90-minute match duration), which is level with the average duration of 23.1 minutes per match during which their opponents were in the lead in those matches.
Lead-defending ability Everton have taken the lead 24 times and have conceded an equalizer on 11 instances, translating into a lead-defending rate of 54% (for an opponents' equalizing rate of 46%).
Equalizing ability Of the 24 times that Everton's opponents have taken the lead, Everton have managed to score an equalizer on 9 instances, translating into an equalizing rate of 38%.
In this example, Everton have been in the lead for an average duration of 24.5 minutes per match played at home (based on a 90-minute match duration), which is lower than the average duration of 25.9 minutes per match during which their opponents were in the lead in those matches.
Lead-defending ability (at home) In home matches, Everton have taken the lead 11 times and have conceded an equalizer on 5 occasions, translating into a home lead-defending rate of 55% (for an opponents' equalizing rate of 45%).
Equalizing ability (at home) Of the 12 times that Everton's opponents have taken the lead when Everton were playing at home, Everton have managed to score an equalizer on 4 occasions, translating into a home equalizing rate of 33%.
In this example, Everton have been in the lead for an average duration of 21.6 minutes per match played away (based on a 90-minute match duration), which is longer than the average duration of 20.2 minutes per match during which their opponents were in the lead in those matches.
Lead-defending ability (away) In away matches, Everton have taken the lead 13 times and have conceded an equalizer on 6 occasions, translating into an away lead-defending rate of 54% (for an opponents' equalizing rate of 46%).
Equalizing ability (away) Of the 12 times that Everton's opponents have taken the lead when Everton were playing away, Everton have managed to score an equalizer on 5 occasions, translating into an away equalizing rate of 42%.

Each of the 5 segments spans one-fifth (20%) of the total points held by the team ranked 1st in the league. For each team, the number of matches played appears in green between brackets, and the number of points is displayed in black.
