Everton will be nursing a sense of missed opportunity after leading twice only to be pegged back in a 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
This result holds significant frustration for the Toffees, who saw the gap to the European qualification spots widen to four points.
Heading into the capital, Everton were desperate to snap a three-match winless streak and keep their continental dreams alive by reeling in 7th-placed Brighton.
Crystal Palace, meanwhile, were looking to leverage their impressive 41% home clean sheet rate to finally secure the points needed for mathematical safety and move away from the relegation conversation.
The action ignited early when James Tarkowski opened the scoring in the 6th minute, ghosting to the far post to slot home from close range after a cross from Dewsbury‑Hall took a slight deflection at the near post (0-1).
Palace responded before the break when Ismala Sarr followed up his own parried shot to find the near corner in the 34th minute (1-1).
The Toffees regained the lead immediately after the restart as Beto resisted his marker to fire through the goalkeeper's legs in the 47th minute (1-2).
However, despite Everton's historical trend of scoring late, it was the Eagles who found the final word through Jean-Philippe Mateta, who powered a low cross under the crossbar in the 77th minute (2-2).
Crystal Palace will be pleased with the resilience shown to equalise twice, even if they have now extended their winless run to four league matches.
Their defensive stats took a hit as they failed to keep a clean sheet for the 11th time in 18 home games, and they remain 14th in the table. Looking ahead, the Eagles face a daunting trip to Manchester City knowing they are still not mathematically safe from the drop.
Evertons frustration is compounded by the fact that they have now gone five matches without a win and failed to keep a clean sheet in seven consecutive away fixtures.
While they remain 10th and retain a high ranking in the away table, conceding at least two goals in each of their last five matches is a trend that must be addressed. They will return home to face Sunderland next, hoping to rediscover the defensive solidity that once defined their campaign.
2nd consecutive home draw for Crystal Palace. 2nd consecutive draw for Everton. 5th consecutive game where Everton conceded. 7th consecutive away game where Everton conceded. 6th consecutive game where Everton scored. 3rd consecutive away game where Everton scored. 3rd consecutive game where Crystal Palace conceded.
To calculate the above duration values based on a total of 90 minutes, goals scored on the 45th minute and during added time of the first half are considered scored on the 45th minute, and goals scored on the 90th minute and during added time of the second half are considered scored on the 90th minute.

Domination Index calculation method
⌄
The Domination Index calculation is based on the average of the following percentages:
- Possession percentage - Percentage of match corners awarded to each team - Percentage of time each team has been in the lead
The calculation used is: AVERAGE OF (% Possession x 4, % Corners and % Lead duration x 2)
'Domination' in football can be perceived in different ways. The goal of the Domination Index, as calculated here, is not about trying to determine things like 'who should have won' or which team has been simply attacking the most.
Sometimes a team has easily scored once or twice in the beginning of the game and then opts for a more reactive stance, with a focus on hindering the opponent's game. At the end of the match, the opponent might have had more possession, and even more shots, but that does not necessarily mean they have dominated the other team.
Considering possession as only one of the factors, which also include corners (clearly indicating a form of pressure on the opponent's defence), and how much of the 90-minute match duration each team has been leading, allows to also account for when teams have simply been busy controling the game, without needing to attack a lot.

The 'League average' indicator refers to the average value for all teams in the league since the beginning of the season.
Note: in the table above, to allow for averaging duration values based on a total of 90 minutes per game, goals scored on the 45th minute and during added time of the first half are all considered to be scored on the 45th minute, and goals scored on the 90th minute and during added time of the second half are also considered scored on the 90th minute.
In this example, Crystal Palace have been in the lead for an average duration of 17.9 minutes per match (based on a 90-minute match duration), which is lower than the average duration of 22.0 minutes per match during which their opponents were in the lead in those matches.
Non-crucial goals scored: goals scored that increased an existing lead, or decreased the opponent's existing lead.
Non-crucial goals conceded: goals conceded that decreased an existing lead, or increased the opponent's existing lead.
Note regarding the Goals giving the lead and the goals giving lead to opponent values: both the team and the opponent team might take the lead more than once during a single match,
so the total number of goals giving the lead to a team might be higher than the number of matches played by the team.
Lead-defending ability Crystal Palace have taken the lead 23 times and have conceded an equalizer on 12 instances, translating into a lead-defending rate of 48% (for an opponents' equalizing rate of 52%).
Equalizing ability Of the 22 times that Crystal Palace's opponents have taken the lead, Crystal Palace have managed to score an equalizer on 7 instances, translating into an equalizing rate of 32%.
In this example, Crystal Palace have been in the lead for an average duration of 12.8 minutes per match played at home (based on a 90-minute match duration), which is lower than the average duration of 22.7 minutes per match during which their opponents were in the lead in those matches.
Lead-defending ability (at home) In home matches, Crystal Palace have taken the lead 9 times and have conceded an equalizer on 5 occasions, translating into a home lead-defending rate of 44% (for an opponents' equalizing rate of 56%).
Equalizing ability (at home) Of the 11 times that Crystal Palace's opponents have taken the lead when Crystal Palace were playing at home, Crystal Palace have managed to score an equalizer on 5 occasions, translating into a home equalizing rate of 45%.
In this example, Crystal Palace have been in the lead for an average duration of 22.9 minutes per match played away (based on a 90-minute match duration), which is longer than the average duration of 21.3 minutes per match during which their opponents were in the lead in those matches.
Lead-defending ability (away) In away matches, Crystal Palace have taken the lead 14 times and have conceded an equalizer on 7 occasions, translating into an away lead-defending rate of 50% (for an opponents' equalizing rate of 50%).
Equalizing ability (away) Of the 11 times that Crystal Palace's opponents have taken the lead when Crystal Palace were playing away, Crystal Palace have managed to score an equalizer on 2 occasions, translating into an away equalizing rate of 18%.
Crystal Palace stats rank the team in 15th position in the Premier League table with 45 points, 2 points behind Leeds Utd and 1 point above Nottm Forest.

In this example, Everton have been in the lead for an average duration of 23.1 minutes per match (based on a 90-minute match duration), which is level with the average duration of 23.1 minutes per match during which their opponents were in the lead in those matches.
Lead-defending ability Everton have taken the lead 24 times and have conceded an equalizer on 11 instances, translating into a lead-defending rate of 54% (for an opponents' equalizing rate of 46%).
Equalizing ability Of the 24 times that Everton's opponents have taken the lead, Everton have managed to score an equalizer on 9 instances, translating into an equalizing rate of 38%.
In this example, Everton have been in the lead for an average duration of 24.5 minutes per match played at home (based on a 90-minute match duration), which is lower than the average duration of 25.9 minutes per match during which their opponents were in the lead in those matches.
Lead-defending ability (at home) In home matches, Everton have taken the lead 11 times and have conceded an equalizer on 5 occasions, translating into a home lead-defending rate of 55% (for an opponents' equalizing rate of 45%).
Equalizing ability (at home) Of the 12 times that Everton's opponents have taken the lead when Everton were playing at home, Everton have managed to score an equalizer on 4 occasions, translating into a home equalizing rate of 33%.
In this example, Everton have been in the lead for an average duration of 21.6 minutes per match played away (based on a 90-minute match duration), which is longer than the average duration of 20.2 minutes per match during which their opponents were in the lead in those matches.
Lead-defending ability (away) In away matches, Everton have taken the lead 13 times and have conceded an equalizer on 6 occasions, translating into an away lead-defending rate of 54% (for an opponents' equalizing rate of 46%).
Equalizing ability (away) Of the 12 times that Everton's opponents have taken the lead when Everton were playing away, Everton have managed to score an equalizer on 5 occasions, translating into an away equalizing rate of 42%.
