The streak continues at the Stade Louis II as Monaco ground out a massive 2-1 victory over Marseille, a result that blows the race for the top spots wide open.
It was a tactical battle where momentum shifted late, proving once again that form is a powerful force in the closing stages of the season.
Ahead of kick-off, the pressure was firmly on Monaco as they sought to close the three-point gap between themselves and the visitors while maintaining their incredible winning run.
Marseille entered the fray looking to consolidate their position in the top three and use their potent attack to stifle the momentum of their nearest rivals.
The game exploded into life after a cagey opening hour despite a few goal scoring opportunities for both sides. In the 59th minute, the deadlock was finally broken when Jordan Teze swung a cross in from the right, allowing Aleksandr Golovin to stretch a leg at the near post and poke the ball home from close range (1-0).
This was exactly the kind of efficiency Monaco have shown lately, especially considering they have won 12 of the 13 matches where they struck first this season.
The pressure mounted, and in the 74th minute, a lightning-fast counter-attack saw Folarin Balogun dash from midfield towards goal. He resisted the challenge of his marker and, from a tight angle on the right side of the box, drilled a brilliant lofted shot into the opposite corner of the net (2-0).
Marseille didn't go down without a fight, however. In the 85th minute, Facundo Medina threaded a line-breaking pass to Amine Gouiri, who navigated past two defenders before slotting the ball through the legs of the onrushing goalkeeper (2-1).
For Monaco, this victory is nothing short of spectacular, marking their seventh consecutive win and extending their unbeaten run to ten matches.
Theyve managed to turn their home ground into a fortress, and this result officially moves them up to 5th place with 49 points.
Having now scored at least twice in seven straight games, they look unstoppable as they prepare for their trip to Paris FC.
Marseille will be licking their wounds after a second consecutive defeat that has seen them slip to 4th in the table. While they controlled much of the ball in the second half, their defensive struggles in the last eight matches where they have conceded 15 goals were evident once again.
With Lille jumping ahead of them into 3rd place, the pressure is on for their next fixture against Metz to stop go back to winning ways and strenghten their position in the race for the Champions League spots.
7th consecutive win for Monaco. 5th consecutive home win for Monaco. 2nd consecutive defeat for Marseille. 7th consecutive game where Monaco scored. 9th consecutive home game where Monaco scored. 2nd consecutive game where Marseille conceded. 5th consecutive game where Marseille scored. 2nd consecutive away game where Marseille scored. 2nd consecutive game where Monaco conceded.
To calculate the above duration values based on a total of 90 minutes, goals scored on the 45th minute and during added time of the first half are considered scored on the 45th minute, and goals scored on the 90th minute and during added time of the second half are considered scored on the 90th minute.

Domination Index calculation method
⌄
The Domination Index calculation is based on the average of the following percentages:
- Possession percentage - Percentage of match corners awarded to each team - Percentage of time each team has been in the lead
The calculation used is: AVERAGE OF (% Possession x 4, % Corners and % Lead duration x 2)
'Domination' in football can be perceived in different ways. The goal of the Domination Index, as calculated here, is not about trying to determine things like 'who should have won' or which team has been simply attacking the most.
Sometimes a team has easily scored once or twice in the beginning of the game and then opts for a more reactive stance, with a focus on hindering the opponent's game. At the end of the match, the opponent might have had more possession, and even more shots, but that does not necessarily mean they have dominated the other team.
Considering possession as only one of the factors, which also include corners (clearly indicating a form of pressure on the opponent's defence), and how much of the 90-minute match duration each team has been leading, allows to also account for when teams have simply been busy controling the game, without needing to attack a lot.

The 'League average' indicator refers to the average value for all teams in the league since the beginning of the season.
Note: in the table above, to allow for averaging duration values based on a total of 90 minutes per game, goals scored on the 45th minute and during added time of the first half are all considered to be scored on the 45th minute, and goals scored on the 90th minute and during added time of the second half are also considered scored on the 90th minute.
In this example, Monaco have been in the lead for an average duration of 25.1 minutes per match (based on a 90-minute match duration), which is longer than the average duration of 19.0 minutes per match during which their opponents were in the lead in those matches.
Non-crucial goals scored: goals scored that increased an existing lead, or decreased the opponent's existing lead.
Non-crucial goals conceded: goals conceded that decreased an existing lead, or increased the opponent's existing lead.
Note regarding the Goals giving the lead and the goals giving lead to opponent values: both the team and the opponent team might take the lead more than once during a single match,
so the total number of goals giving the lead to a team might be higher than the number of matches played by the team.
Lead-defending ability Monaco have taken the lead 25 times and have conceded an equalizer on 9 instances, translating into a lead-defending rate of 64% (for an opponents' equalizing rate of 36%).
Equalizing ability Of the 21 times that Monaco's opponents have taken the lead, Monaco have managed to score an equalizer on 9 instances, translating into an equalizing rate of 43%.
In this example, Monaco have been in the lead for an average duration of 30.7 minutes per match played at home (based on a 90-minute match duration), which is longer than the average duration of 15.5 minutes per match during which their opponents were in the lead in those matches.
Lead-defending ability (at home) In home matches, Monaco have taken the lead 12 times and have conceded an equalizer on 2 occasions, translating into a home lead-defending rate of 83% (for an opponents' equalizing rate of 17%).
Equalizing ability (at home) Of the 11 times that Monaco's opponents have taken the lead when Monaco were playing at home, Monaco have managed to score an equalizer on 6 occasions, translating into a home equalizing rate of 55%.
In this example, Monaco have been in the lead for an average duration of 19.5 minutes per match played away (based on a 90-minute match duration), which is lower than the average duration of 22.4 minutes per match during which their opponents were in the lead in those matches.
Lead-defending ability (away) In away matches, Monaco have taken the lead 13 times and have conceded an equalizer on 7 occasions, translating into an away lead-defending rate of 46% (for an opponents' equalizing rate of 54%).
Equalizing ability (away) Of the 10 times that Monaco's opponents have taken the lead when Monaco were playing away, Monaco have managed to score an equalizer on 3 occasions, translating into an away equalizing rate of 30%.

In this example, Marseille have been in the lead for an average duration of 33.9 minutes per match (based on a 90-minute match duration), which is longer than the average duration of 19.0 minutes per match during which their opponents were in the lead in those matches.
Lead-defending ability Marseille have taken the lead 26 times and have conceded an equalizer on 8 instances, translating into a lead-defending rate of 69% (for an opponents' equalizing rate of 31%).
Equalizing ability Of the 17 times that Marseille's opponents have taken the lead, Marseille have managed to score an equalizer on 6 instances, translating into an equalizing rate of 35%.
In this example, Marseille have been in the lead for an average duration of 42.2 minutes per match played at home (based on a 90-minute match duration), which is longer than the average duration of 12.2 minutes per match during which their opponents were in the lead in those matches.
Lead-defending ability (at home) In home matches, Marseille have taken the lead 17 times and have conceded an equalizer on 6 occasions, translating into a home lead-defending rate of 65% (for an opponents' equalizing rate of 35%).
Equalizing ability (at home) Of the 7 times that Marseille's opponents have taken the lead when Marseille were playing at home, Marseille have managed to score an equalizer on 5 occasions, translating into a home equalizing rate of 71%.
In this example, Marseille have been in the lead for an average duration of 25.5 minutes per match played away (based on a 90-minute match duration), which is lower than the average duration of 25.9 minutes per match during which their opponents were in the lead in those matches.
Lead-defending ability (away) In away matches, Marseille have taken the lead 9 times and have conceded an equalizer on 2 occasions, translating into an away lead-defending rate of 78% (for an opponents' equalizing rate of 22%).
Equalizing ability (away) Of the 10 times that Marseille's opponents have taken the lead when Marseille were playing away, Marseille have managed to score an equalizer on 1 occasion, translating into an away equalizing rate of 10%.
