The Points Performance Index table aims to provide a more nuanced evaluation of team performance beyond basic indicators like total points and Points Per Game. It does this by accounting for the perceived difficulty or ease of each team's matches played so far.

Calculations
Points Per Game (PPG)This value is determined by dividing the total points a team has accumulated by the number of matches they've played. Opponents Points Per GameThe Opponents PPG value is calculated by combining the Away Points Per Game of opponents played at home with the Home PPG of opponents played away. This value is calculated by multiplying a team's PPG by the PPG of their played opponents.

The calculation of the Points Performance Index gives equal weight to both the team's PPG and the Opponents PPG. The concept is to apply a "weight" to a team's PPG, thereby factoring in the caliber of opposition against which the team's points were acquired.
