Equalizers scored

SoccerSTATS.com - updated on: 13 Jun 2020

Objective

The Equalizers Scored table shows for each team:

  • the number of goals that gave the lead to the opponents
  • the number of equalizers scored
  • a comparison between goals giving the lead to the opponents and equalizers scored

The table allows to see which teams have conceded the lead the most and from those situations, how many times the teams have managed to equalize.

Description

The table lists for each team:

  • Games played
  • Total goals giving the lead to the opponents
  • Goals giving the lead to the opponents per game
  • Total equalizer goals scored
  • Equalizer goals scored per goal giving the lead to opponents

Below is a view of some of the columns of the Equalizers Scored table:

Calculations

For each team, the number of goals giving the lead to the opponents is calculated by only taking into account those goals that allowed the opponents to set the score from a level status to a leading situation (for example, a goal conceded when the score was 0-0 or 1-1).

The number of equalizer goals scored per goal giving the lead to the opponents is displayed both as an average and as a percentage for each team. That percentage gives an indication as to how often the team has managed to equalize, out of all the situations where the team was trailing. The higher the percentage, the most successful the teams has been at scoring an equalizer.

The number of equalizers scored can be higher than the number of matches played, as a team can equalize more than once during the same match, and can also concede more than one goal giving the lead to the opponents in the same match.

Example

You can view an example on the Equalizers scored page for the Bundesliga.

Avoiding pitfalls

Goals giving the lead to opponents include both opening goals conceded and goals conceded following an earlier equalizer. Some teams may have a high number of goals conceded giving the lead to opponents because they have often conceded the first goal.

Other teams may concede more goals giving the lead to opponents because they have a tendancy to both score and concede more goals than other teams. Such teams may have both a high number of goals giving the lead to opponents and a high number of equalizers scored.

Related statistics

The Equalizers Scored table shows how often a team has equalized, out of the number of times that their opponents have been in the lead. Similarly, you may want to look at how successful the teams have been at taking the lead themselves, and how such leads have been challenged by opponents' equalizers: the statistics on lead-taking goals and equalizer goals conceded are summarized on the Lead-taking goals description page.
