The points were shared in North London as Tottenham and Sunderland played out a 1-1 draw, a result that leaves both sides treading water in the middle of the Premier League pack.
Before the first whistle, Tottenham arrived looking to finally spark their home campaign into life, knowing that a win could help bridge the gap toward the European spots.
For Sunderland, the mission was about maintaining their hard-to-beat status and keeping a three-point cushion over their hosts, hoping to solidify their place in the top half of the table.
The deadlock was broken in the 30th minute after a corner from the left to the far post was squared back in front of the goal and met by van de Ven; his initial effort took a decisive touch off Davies from close range, diverting the ball past the keeper to give the hosts the lead (1-0).
Sunderland, true to their season trend of performing better after the interval, grew into the game and eventually found their way back in the 80th minute. Following some slick link-up play with Le Fee, Brobbey received the ball in a central position inside the box and lashed a powerful strike into the top left corner (1-1).
The visitors' ability to strike late was no fluke, as they have now scored 33% of their goals after the 75th minute this season.
For Tottenham, this second consecutive draw highlights a frustrating lack of killer instinct at home, where they have now failed to keep a clean sheet in 8 of their 10 matches.
Despite the point, they have slipped to 13th in the table, and with 67% of their points coming away from home, they must find a way to make their own stadium a fortress again before their trip to Bournemouth. Their attacking output also remains a concern, with recent form showing a 28.6% drop in goals scored compared to their season average.
Sunderland will be much the happier of the two, extending their unbeaten run to five matches and proving once again why they are so difficult to break down.
They currently boast the best defensive record in the last eight matches, conceding only eight times, and this result keeps them in 8th place, three points clear of Spurs.
Having now recorded four consecutive draws, the Black Cats have shown incredible resilience, especially given their high equalising rate of 64%, and they will head to Brentford confident in their ability to grind out results.
2nd consecutive draw for Tottenham. 4th consecutive draw for Sunderland. 2nd consecutive away draw for Sunderland. 5th consecutive home game where Tottenham scored. 2nd consecutive home game where Tottenham conceded.
To calculate the above duration values based on a total of 90 minutes, goals scored on the 45th minute and during added time of the first half are considered scored on the 45th minute, and goals scored on the 90th minute and during added time of the second half are considered scored on the 90th minute.

Domination Index calculation method
⌄
The Domination Index calculation is based on the average of the following percentages:
- Possession percentage - Percentage of match corners awarded to each team - Percentage of time each team has been in the lead
The calculation used is: AVERAGE OF (% Possession x 4, % Corners and % Lead duration x 2)
'Domination' in football can be perceived in different ways. The goal of the Domination Index, as calculated here, is not about trying to determine things like 'who should have won' or which team has been simply attacking the most.
Sometimes a team has easily scored once or twice in the beginning of the game and then opts for a more reactive stance, with a focus on hindering the opponent's game. At the end of the match, the opponent might have had more possession, and even more shots, but that does not necessarily mean they have dominated the other team.
Considering possession as only one of the factors, which also include corners (clearly indicating a form of pressure on the opponent's defence), and how much of the 90-minute match duration each team has been leading, allows to also account for when teams have simply been busy controling the game, without needing to attack a lot.

The 'League average' indicator refers to the average value for all teams in the league since the beginning of the season.
Note: in the table above, to allow for averaging duration values based on a total of 90 minutes per game, goals scored on the 45th minute and during added time of the first half are all considered to be scored on the 45th minute, and goals scored on the 90th minute and during added time of the second half are also considered scored on the 90th minute.
In this example, Tottenham have been in the lead for an average duration of 18.3 minutes per match (based on a 90-minute match duration), which is lower than the average duration of 31.9 minutes per match during which their opponents were in the lead in those matches.
Non-crucial goals scored: goals scored that increased an existing lead, or decreased the opponent's existing lead.
Non-crucial goals conceded: goals conceded that decreased an existing lead, or increased the opponent's existing lead.
Note regarding the Goals giving the lead and the goals giving lead to opponent values: both the team and the opponent team might take the lead more than once during a single match,
so the total number of goals giving the lead to a team might be higher than the number of matches played by the team.
Lead-defending ability Tottenham have taken the lead 20 times and have conceded an equalizer on 10 instances, translating into a lead-defending rate of 50% (for an opponents' equalizing rate of 50%).
Equalizing ability Of the 29 times that Tottenham's opponents have taken the lead, Tottenham have managed to score an equalizer on 12 instances, translating into an equalizing rate of 41%.
In this example, Tottenham have been in the lead for an average duration of 17.0 minutes per match played at home (based on a 90-minute match duration), which is lower than the average duration of 34.0 minutes per match during which their opponents were in the lead in those matches.
Lead-defending ability (at home) In home matches, Tottenham have taken the lead 10 times and have conceded an equalizer on 7 occasions, translating into a home lead-defending rate of 30% (for an opponents' equalizing rate of 70%).
Equalizing ability (at home) Of the 16 times that Tottenham's opponents have taken the lead when Tottenham were playing at home, Tottenham have managed to score an equalizer on 6 occasions, translating into a home equalizing rate of 38%.
In this example, Tottenham have been in the lead for an average duration of 19.5 minutes per match played away (based on a 90-minute match duration), which is lower than the average duration of 29.7 minutes per match during which their opponents were in the lead in those matches.
Lead-defending ability (away) In away matches, Tottenham have taken the lead 10 times and have conceded an equalizer on 3 occasions, translating into an away lead-defending rate of 70% (for an opponents' equalizing rate of 30%).
Equalizing ability (away) Of the 13 times that Tottenham's opponents have taken the lead when Tottenham were playing away, Tottenham have managed to score an equalizer on 6 occasions, translating into an away equalizing rate of 46%.
Tottenham stats rank the team in 17th position in the Premier League table with 41 points, 3 points behind Nottm Forest and 2 points above West Ham Utd.

In this example, Sunderland have been in the lead for an average duration of 15.2 minutes per match (based on a 90-minute match duration), which is lower than the average duration of 22.0 minutes per match during which their opponents were in the lead in those matches.

so the total number of goals giving the lead to a team might be higher than the number of matches played by the team.
Lead-defending ability Sunderland have taken the lead 19 times and have conceded an equalizer on 5 instances, translating into a lead-defending rate of 74% (for an opponents' equalizing rate of 26%).

In this example, Sunderland have been in the lead for an average duration of 21.0 minutes per match played at home (based on a 90-minute match duration), which is longer than the average duration of 14.3 minutes per match during which their opponents were in the lead in those matches.
