Relegation-doomed Burnley and Wolverhampton signed off from a difficult top-flight campaign by sharing the spoils in a tense 1-1 draw at Turf Moor.
Ahead of the final day, both clubs had already been condemned to the drop for several weeks, meaning this concluding fixture was purely a matter of pride before they meet again in the Championship next season.
The final whistle brought an end to an incredibly taxing year for both fanbases, though the hosts missed their final chance to escape the very bottom of the Home standings.
Burnley desperately wanted to gift their home fans a consolation victory and end a bleak winless run, while Wolverhampton traveled seeking a vital away win to pull clear of their hosts and snap their own travelling miseries.
The drama ignited after just five minutes when a handball inside the Burnley area forced the referee to point straight to the penalty spot. Adam Armstrong stepped up and confidently smashed the penalty into the top right corner to break the deadlock (0-1).
Despite having conceded the opening goal for the 28th time this season, the Clarets responded instantly after the interval. In the 47th minute, a clever layoff found Zian Flemming at the edge of the box in a centred position, and he unleashed a precise shot that crept into the bottom left corner to level the match (1-1).
Burnley's failure to secure all three points means they finish the season rooted to the absolute bottom of the Home table with a league-lowest 13 points, while extending their current winless streak to 12 matches.
Their long-standing defensive vulnerabilities were exposed yet again, marking their eighth consecutive game without a clean sheet and leaving them with the worst overall defensive record in the division after breaching 75 goals.
Having lost 24 matches in total and failed to keep a clean sheet in 15 of their 19 home dates, the Clarets must completely rebuild their defensive foundations in the second tier.
Wolverhampton walked away with their second consecutive draw, meaning they conclude their Premier League stay on an eight-game winless streak of their own.
They finish the campaign at the very bottom of the Away table with a mere 6 points, having failed to win any of their 19 away matches this season. A ninth consecutive match without a clean sheet confirmed their status as the league's lowest scorers with just 27 goals, while also ranking bottom of the Second Half table.
Sorting out this travelling sickness and an attack that scored in only 50% of their league games will be the urgent priority for their upcoming Championship return.
2nd consecutive home draw for Burnley. 2nd consecutive draw for Wolverhampton. 2nd consecutive home game where Burnley scored. 9th consecutive game where Wolverhampton conceded. 6th consecutive away game where Wolverhampton conceded. 2nd consecutive game where Wolverhampton scored. 8th consecutive game where Burnley conceded. 4th consecutive home game where Burnley conceded.
To calculate the above duration values based on a total of 90 minutes, goals scored on the 45th minute and during added time of the first half are considered scored on the 45th minute, and goals scored on the 90th minute and during added time of the second half are considered scored on the 90th minute.

Domination Index calculation method
⌄
The Domination Index calculation is based on the average of the following percentages:
- Possession percentage - Percentage of match corners awarded to each team - Percentage of time each team has been in the lead
The calculation used is: AVERAGE OF (% Possession x 4, % Corners and % Lead duration x 2)
'Domination' in football can be perceived in different ways. The goal of the Domination Index, as calculated here, is not about trying to determine things like 'who should have won' or which team has been simply attacking the most.
Sometimes a team has easily scored once or twice in the beginning of the game and then opts for a more reactive stance, with a focus on hindering the opponent's game. At the end of the match, the opponent might have had more possession, and even more shots, but that does not necessarily mean they have dominated the other team.
Considering possession as only one of the factors, which also include corners (clearly indicating a form of pressure on the opponent's defence), and how much of the 90-minute match duration each team has been leading, allows to also account for when teams have simply been busy controling the game, without needing to attack a lot.

Note: in the table above, to allow for averaging duration values based on a total of 90 minutes per game, goals scored on the 45th minute and during added time of the first half are all considered to be scored on the 45th minute, and goals scored on the 90th minute and during added time of the second half are also considered scored on the 90th minute.
In this example, Burnley have been in the lead for an average duration of 8.1 minutes per match (based on a 90-minute match duration), which is lower than the average duration of 39.9 minutes per match during which their opponents were in the lead in those matches.
Non-crucial goals scored: goals scored that increased an existing lead, or decreased the opponent's existing lead.
Non-crucial goals conceded: goals conceded that decreased an existing lead, or increased the opponent's existing lead.
Note regarding the Goals giving the lead and the goals giving lead to opponent values: both the team and the opponent team might take the lead more than once during a single match,
so the total number of goals giving the lead to a team might be higher than the number of matches played by the team.
Lead-defending ability Burnley have taken the lead 11 times and have conceded an equalizer on 7 instances, translating into a lead-defending rate of 36% (for an opponents' equalizing rate of 64%).
Equalizing ability Of the 39 times that Burnley's opponents have taken the lead, Burnley have managed to score an equalizer on 15 instances, translating into an equalizing rate of 38%.
In this example, Burnley have been in the lead for an average duration of 10.5 minutes per match played at home (based on a 90-minute match duration), which is lower than the average duration of 35.2 minutes per match during which their opponents were in the lead in those matches.
Lead-defending ability (at home) In home matches, Burnley have taken the lead 5 times and have conceded an equalizer on 3 occasions, translating into a home lead-defending rate of 40% (for an opponents' equalizing rate of 60%).
Equalizing ability (at home) Of the 17 times that Burnley's opponents have taken the lead when Burnley were playing at home, Burnley have managed to score an equalizer on 7 occasions, translating into a home equalizing rate of 41%.
In this example, Burnley have been in the lead for an average duration of 5.7 minutes per match played away (based on a 90-minute match duration), which is lower than the average duration of 44.7 minutes per match during which their opponents were in the lead in those matches.
Lead-defending ability (away) In away matches, Burnley have taken the lead 6 times and have conceded an equalizer on 4 occasions, translating into an away lead-defending rate of 33% (for an opponents' equalizing rate of 67%).
Equalizing ability (away) Of the 22 times that Burnley's opponents have taken the lead when Burnley were playing away, Burnley have managed to score an equalizer on 8 occasions, translating into an away equalizing rate of 36%.

The 'League average' indicator refers to the average value for all teams in the league since the beginning of the season.
In this example, Wolverhampton Wanderers have been in the lead for an average duration of 8.1 minutes per match (based on a 90-minute match duration), which is lower than the average duration of 38.3 minutes per match during which their opponents were in the lead in those matches.
Lead-defending ability Wolverhampton Wanderers have taken the lead 9 times and have conceded an equalizer on 6 instances, translating into a lead-defending rate of 33% (for an opponents' equalizing rate of 67%).
Equalizing ability Of the 33 times that Wolverhampton's opponents have taken the lead, Wolverhampton have managed to score an equalizer on 9 instances, translating into an equalizing rate of 27%.
In this example, Wolverhampton have been in the lead for an average duration of 12.0 minutes per match played at home (based on a 90-minute match duration), which is lower than the average duration of 31.8 minutes per match during which their opponents were in the lead in those matches.
Lead-defending ability (at home) In home matches, Wolverhampton have taken the lead 7 times and have conceded an equalizer on 4 occasions, translating into a home lead-defending rate of 43% (for an opponents' equalizing rate of 57%).
Equalizing ability (at home) Of the 16 times that Wolverhampton's opponents have taken the lead when Wolverhampton were playing at home, Wolverhampton have managed to score an equalizer on 5 occasions, translating into a home equalizing rate of 31%.
In this example, Wolverhampton have been in the lead for an average duration of 4.1 minutes per match played away (based on a 90-minute match duration), which is lower than the average duration of 44.8 minutes per match during which their opponents were in the lead in those matches.
Non-crucial goals scored: goals scored that increased an existing lead, or decreased the opponent's existing lead.
Non-crucial goals conceded: goals conceded that decreased an existing lead, or increased the opponent's existing lead.
